Sustainability in Education – Perceptions of Soft Skills From the Student Perspective

Abstract
Rapidly changing social and economic factors require dynamic adaptability from both education and labour market actors. The mass emergence of new jobs, the exponentially evolving technological environment and the emergence of innovative industries are increasingly creating demand not only for hard skills but also for soft skills. The rise of sustainable jobs and the recognition of the need for them is causing the need for the development of soft skills to come to the fore. In this study, prospective employees' preconceptions about the most prominent soft skills expected in the labour market were investigated. The results of the research are based on a survey of 218 business students. It confirms our previous results, which showed that the soft skills that stand out are motivation, oral and written communication skills and stress tolerance. Comparing student perceptions with the results of previous interviews with managers, we can see that there are differences between labour market expectations and student perceptions.
