Effect Assesment of Mechanised Logging in Continuous Forest
Main Article Content
Abstract
In recent decades continuous cover forest management and the conversion to continuous cover forest management have become widespread. During this work, the trees are harvested individually or only in small groups, paying great attention to the soil, remaining trees, and regrowth. Logging must be done more and more often with machines, it is timely to investigate the applicability of these solutions and their effects on the environment. The results of detailed measurements carried out in sample areas show that the amount of damage does not depend on the degree of mechanization, if the used machines and the work system are chosen correctly.
