Köztérfejlesztések hatásai a gyulai Kossuth tér példáján

Absztrakt

More and more public space projects are implemented in Hungary in recent decades. There are developments which are totally top-down processes but at the same time w e can encounter processes that come true with public participation. The study discusses a project which was going off with partial public participation, namely the development of the Kossuth square of Gyula. The main aim of the research is to introduce how the square functions after the development and how do the different interest groups evaluate it. I made several interviews with people who live close to the square, with experts who took part of the development and I interviewed the square users too. Furthermore I did participant observations on the square. It is necessary to remark, that the paper introduces partial results of an ongoing research and additional interviews are needed to be done. Based on these results Kossuth square seems to be a successful and well functioning place within the city that attracts the local people as well as tourists.
